Unicorn coloring page with a unicorn standing in side view beside a flower Unicorn Standing Still The unicorn children ask for by name: standing side on, all four hooves down, head turned just enough to look at you, with a flower growing beside the front hoof. The mane and tail are drawn as wide open ribbons, so the biggest areas on the sheet are the easiest ones to fill. Download Free PDF
Unicorn coloring page of a unicorn rearing up on its hind legs Rearing Unicorn Up on the hind legs with both front hooves in the air and the head held high in profile, so the spiralled horn points straight at the top of the paper. The mane and the tail stream out behind in long open strands, and flowers grow on the mound under the hooves. Download Free PDF
Unicorn coloring page with a unicorn galloping at full speed Galloping Unicorn All four legs off the ground at once, mane and tail pulled straight back by the speed and curls of wind trailing behind. Blades of grass flick up from the ground line, which is the only detail on the sheet small enough to need a sharp pencil. Download Free PDF
Flying unicorn coloring page with feathered wings spread over the clouds Unicorn Flying on Wings A winged unicorn in mid air with its front legs tucked and its back legs stretched. Every feather is its own closed shape, so the two wings alone give a patient child something like forty small areas to work through before the clouds underneath. Download Free PDF
Unicorn coloring page with a unicorn asleep on a cloud under a moon Sleeping Unicorn on a Cloud Curled up on a cloud with its legs folded under it, eyes closed and lashes down, a crescent moon hanging over its head. The cloud is one enormous soft shape that takes a whole crayon side, and the bedtime sheet of the collection. Download Free PDF
Unicorn coloring page of a unicorn grazing in tall grass and daisies Unicorn Grazing in the Grass Head down and nose in the grass, which puts the spiralled horn out in front where a child can see how it is built. Daisies stand up around the hooves and two low hills close the sheet off at the back. Download Free PDF
Unicorn coloring page with a long flowing mane filling the sheet Unicorn with a Long Flowing Mane Head and mane only, because the mane needs the rest of the paper. It leaves the neck in a dozen wide ribbons and curls right out to the edges, and no two ribbons are the same width, so a rainbow of colours never lines up in stripes. Download Free PDF
Unicorn coloring page with a braided mane full of small flowers Braided Mane with Flowers The mane is worked into one thick plait down the neck with flowers pushed in between the sections and a bow tied at the tip. Each crossing of the braid is a separate area, so the plait alone can carry three shades of the same colour. Download Free PDF
Rainbow unicorn coloring page with a mane of six wide colour bands Rainbow Mane Unicorn The mane and tail are flat bands of hair lying side by side, each one a clean empty stripe with a bold edge, and a real rainbow curves out of a cloud behind. Hand this one to the child who wants to use every felt tip in the pack at once. Download Free PDF
Unicorn coloring page with a swirling mane full of stars Mane Full of Stars Seen head on, with the mane breaking into swirls that have stars caught inside them and one more star sitting on the tip of the horn. The stars are big enough to colour separately, which is the difference between a starry mane and a speckled one. Download Free PDF
Unicorn head coloring page with a close up of the spiralled horn Unicorn Head Close Up A three quarter portrait cropped at the neck, where the horn finally gets to be the biggest thing on the paper and every turn of its spiral is a band to colour on its own. The eyes and lashes are the only fine work. Download Free PDF
Unicorn and rainbow coloring page with a unicorn standing on a cloud Unicorn on a Rainbow Cloud Standing on a cloud with a six band rainbow arching right over the top of the page and smaller clouds drifting underneath. The bands are wide and completely empty, so this is the sheet where a child decides the order of the colours. Download Free PDF
Unicorn coloring page in an enchanted forest with toadstools and ferns Unicorn in the Enchanted Forest Picking a way between tree trunks with spotted toadstools around the hooves, ferns curling up from the floor and a bird watching from a low branch. The most crowded sheet in the collection, and the one that takes longest to finish. Download Free PDF
Unicorn castle coloring page with a unicorn on a hill and three towers Unicorn and the Castle A unicorn on a hilltop with a three towered castle behind it, flags on the roofs and a path winding up to the arched gate. The walls are left plain instead of bricked, so they take one clean wash of colour and all the detail sits in the pointed roofs and the windows. Download Free PDF
Unicorn coloring page in a flower meadow with butterflies and a sun Unicorn in a Flower Meadow Standing knee deep in a meadow where the flowers are drawn big enough to colour one at a time, with two butterflies going past and a round sun with straight rays low behind. Every flower is a different kind, so no two are filled in the same way. Download Free PDF
Unicorn coloring page under a night sky of stars and a crescent moon Unicorn Under the Stars Night on a small hill, a crescent moon rising behind the unicorn head and a sky packed with stars of every size. A shooting star drags a triple trail across the top corner, and every star in the sky is drawn big enough to take a colour of its own. Download Free PDF
Unicorn coloring page at a waterfall drinking from a rock pool Unicorn at the Waterfall Head lowered to drink at a rock pool while a waterfall comes down behind in long smooth ribbons. The water is drawn as simple curved ripples and the pebbles along the edge are each their own pebble, which is where the fine work is. Download Free PDF
Unicorn and fairy coloring page with a fairy hovering by the horn Unicorn and a Fairy A fairy hovers just above the horn, wand out, and the sparkles falling from the wand are the only thing that touches the unicorn. Her wings carry a pattern of their own and her dress is cut from petals, so there are two characters here to colour, not one. Download Free PDF
Baby unicorn coloring page with a foal and its mother touching noses Baby Unicorn and Its Mother A foal stretches up until its nose meets its mother, and the size gap between them is the point: two horns, two manes and two completely different sets of proportions on one page. The foal has stubby legs and a tuft of mane instead of a curtain. Download Free PDF
Unicorn coloring page with eight butterflies circling the mane Unicorn and the Butterflies Sitting with its legs folded while eight butterflies circle the head and mane, one of them landed on the tip of the horn. No two butterflies are the same shape and each pair of wings carries its own pattern to fill. Download Free PDF
Coloring page of a girl riding a unicorn and holding the mane A Girl Riding a Unicorn A girl riding bareback with both hands in the mane, her hair and the unicorn tail streaming the same way, which is the small detail that makes the two of them look like they are moving together. Her clothes add the only fabric folds in the collection. Download Free PDF
Unicorn coloring page with a rabbit and two birds resting on it Unicorn with a Rabbit and Birds Lying in the grass with its legs tucked under, a round rabbit parked between the front hooves and two birds settled on its back as if it were furniture. The quietest sheet here, and the one small children reach for second. Download Free PDF
Unicorn birthday coloring page with a party hat, cake and balloons Unicorn Birthday Party A paper hat on the unicorn, a three tier cake with three candles in front of it, balloons on strings bunched at each side and a row of bunting flags across the top. Each tier of the cake takes its own colour, and so does every flag. Download Free PDF
Simple unicorn outline coloring page with no detail inside Plain Unicorn Outline One outline, nothing inside it but the eye, the horn and the line where the mane meets the body. It is the sheet for a child who wants to invent the pattern themselves, and the fastest print in the collection on a low toner cartridge. Download Free PDF
Kawaii unicorn coloring page with a chibi unicorn and blushing cheeks Kawaii Chibi Unicorn Enormous head, tiny body, eyes shut into two happy curves and a round blush circle on each cheek. The horn is short and curled rather than long, and the whole thing is built from about a dozen shapes, which is why four year olds finish it. Download Free PDF
Realistic unicorn coloring page with true horse anatomy and a spiral horn Realistic Unicorn A real horse with a horn: correct proportions, muscle lines drawn as outlines instead of shadow, feathered hair falling over each hoof and a mane in separate strands. The strands are narrow, so this is a coloured pencil sheet rather than a crayon one. Download Free PDF
Unicorn mandala coloring page with rings of petals and stars Unicorn Mandala A unicorn head at the dead centre with rings of petals, teardrops, hearts and stars radiating out to the edge of the paper, one motif per ring. Colour a ring at a time and the symmetry does the rest of the work for you. Download Free PDF
Zentangle unicorn coloring page with patterned panels across the body Zentangle Unicorn The body is cut into panels by long curving lines and each panel gets its own repeating pattern: scales here, waves there, spirals, dots, cross hatching, leaves. The mane is nested curls. Fine work, and the sheet an adult will quietly take for themselves. Download Free PDF
Doodle unicorn coloring page with stars, spots and stripes inside Doodle Pattern Unicorn The zentangle sheet with the difficulty taken out. Same idea of a patterned body, but the shapes inside are stars, hearts, spots, stripes and checks big enough for a six year old, and every line wobbles slightly the way a hand drawn line should. Download Free PDF
Easy unicorn coloring page for toddlers with very thick outlines Giant Simple Unicorn for Toddlers Built from about eight big rounded shapes and nothing else: fat body, four short legs, one enormous eye, a short striped horn and one smooth curtain of mane, printed as large as the paper allows. There is no gap on this sheet narrower than a crayon. Download Free PDF
Unicorn face coloring page with one giant smiling unicorn head Big Unicorn Face One unicorn face and nothing else, blown up until it touches all four margins. Two round eyes, two rounded ears, a wide smile, a striped horn and a mane that curls once over the forehead. It is the first sheet in the collection a two year old can attempt. Download Free PDF
Easy unicorn coloring sheet with a flower and a tree in simple shapes Easy Unicorn for Beginners A step up from the giant face: a simple unicorn plus a round flower and a triangular tree, so there are three things on the page instead of one but every area is still wide enough for a fist grip. A first whole scene rather than a first object. Download Free PDF
Detailed unicorn coloring page for adults with a mane of roses and leaves Unicorn in Flowers, Fine Lines The mane stops being hair halfway up and becomes roses, buds, leaves and curling stems that fill the top half of the sheet, every leaf with its veins drawn in and curling tendrils filling the gaps. The finest linework of any unicorn here. Download Free PDF
Unicorn coloring page for adults with a vine arch and a patterned blanket Intricate Unicorn Under a Vine Arch A unicorn in a tasselled blanket of small repeating diamonds, standing under an arch of twisting vines loaded with leaves, berries and blossom, with scrollwork running along the ground. Hundreds of separate areas, and the longest sit of the whole set. Download Free PDF

Ask a child what a unicorn looks like and they will say a white horse with a horn, which is true and is also why so many unicorn coloring pages are dull. The horn is one shape. Once it is on the paper there is nothing left to decide, and what you get is the same pony printed at four different sizes.

The interesting part of drawing a unicorn is everything around the horn. A horn that spirals properly has a groove winding from the base to the tip and reads instantly, where a smooth cone reads as a party hat. A mane can be one heavy sheet of hair, a plait with flowers pushed into it, six flat bands lying side by side like a rainbow, or a mass of curls with stars caught inside them, and each of those becomes a completely different page the moment a child starts filling it in. So these 34 drawings change the mane, the pose, the company and the amount of detail instead of changing the size of the same unicorn.

They fall into six groups, and the groups exist because a three year old with a fat crayon and a ten year old with fineliners want opposite things from a unicorn.

Six poses, from standing still to fast asleep

The first sheet is the classic, one unicorn side on with a flower growing beside its front hoof, because that is the one children ask for by name. After that it rears up on its hind legs on a flowery mound with the mane thrown back, gallops flat out with the wind curling behind it, flies on a pair of spread feathered wings above the clouds, sleeps curled up on a cloud under a crescent moon, and finally puts its head down to graze in long grass.

The mane is where the colour goes

Five sheets that treat the hair as the subject rather than the trimming. A mane so long it sweeps across the whole page in open ribbons. A thick plait with flowers pushed in along its length and a ribbon at the end. Flat bands of hair lying side by side under a rainbow, which is the sheet to hand a child who wants every felt tip out of the pack at once. A mane breaking into swirls with stars caught inside them. And a close portrait where the spiralled horn is finally the biggest thing on the paper.

Somewhere magical to stand

A unicorn on a cloud with a rainbow arching over the whole page. One picking its way between toadstools and ferns in a forest. One on a hilltop with a three towered castle behind. One up to its knees in a flower meadow with butterflies going past. One under a sky packed with stars and a shooting star crossing the top corner. And one drinking from a rock pool at the foot of a waterfall.

Nobody wants to be a unicorn on their own

For the child who colours the friend in first. A fairy hovering by the horn with a wand. A foal reaching up to touch noses with its mother. Eight butterflies circling a unicorn sitting down with its legs folded. A girl riding bareback with her hair and the unicorn tail streaming the same way. A rabbit sitting between the front hooves with two birds perched on the back. And a birthday party with a paper hat, a three tier cake and balloons on strings.

The same unicorn, drawn six ways

One plain outline with nothing at all inside it. A kawaii chibi with an enormous head, closed happy eyes and two round blushing cheeks. A realistic one with proper horse anatomy and feathered fetlocks above the hooves. A mandala with a unicorn head at the centre of rings of petals and stars. A zentangle whose body is panelled into scales, waves, spirals and cross hatching. And a doodle unicorn filled with stars, spots, stripes and checks.

Thick lines and fine lines

The two ends of the collection. Three sheets are drawn for small hands, with very heavy outlines and no narrow gaps anywhere: a giant simple unicorn that fills the page, an enormous smiling unicorn face on its own, and an easy one standing beside a round flower and a triangular tree. At the other end sits a head whose mane turns into roses and leaves, and an intricate unicorn under an arch of vines wearing a patterned blanket.

What age are these unicorn coloring pages for?

Three to ten. The three beginner sheets use very thick lines and wide open areas, which is what a three year old can stay inside. The poses, the settings and the companions suit five to eight. The mandala, the zentangle, the floral mane and the vine arch are fine line work and will keep an older child busy all afternoon.
