Most solar system printables treat the planets as eight interchangeable circles. That wastes the best thing about the topic, because the planets are wonderfully easy to tell apart: one wears rings, one is striped with a storm, one is covered in craters, one lies on its side. The 30 sheets in this set lean on those differences, so a child who cannot read yet can still point at Saturn and know it.

Planet pages to color and trace

Each of the eight planets gets a page of its own: a hollow name to fill with color, the planet drawn large with its real features, an orbit strip showing its position from the Sun, and a dashed name to trace. These planets-only pages are where most children start.

Space coloring pages

The sun, the full moon, a rocket, an astronaut, a comet and one whole solar system scene, drawn as full page coloring sheets with closed outlines and wide crayon-friendly areas.

Labeling, ordering and matching

The labeling sheet lines the planets up in order from the Sun with a word bank. The ordering sheet shuffles them and asks for numbers 1 to 8. The matching sheet pairs five portraits with five names. Every activity PDF carries its answer page in green as page two.

Planet fact pages

Eight fact cards, one per planet, with four short true facts each: moon counts, the 88 day year on Mercury, the sideways spin of Uranus. Read them aloud; the sentences are kept short on purpose.

Preschool and kindergarten levels

The counting sheet and the circle-the-biggest sheet need no reading at all, which makes them the preschool entry point, and the sizes on the biggest-planet rows follow the real diameter order. Kindergarten children get the letter-hint labeling page and the name matching page.

One free PDF pack with everything

Two compiled sets close the collection: an activity pack with every exercise and fact card, and a coloring pack with all fifteen coloring pages, each a single free PDF download.

What order are the planets in from the Sun?

Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune, counting outward from the Sun. The first four are small rocky worlds, the next two are gas giants, and the last two are ice giants. Every labeling sheet in this set keeps the planets in this same order.

All 30 printables are free, need no account, and print cleanly in black and white on A4 or US Letter. The Spanish files are written natively, planet names included, so nothing on the paper needs translating at the kitchen table.
